Tems Sets Another Record

Tems, has once again proven that her artistry is unstoppable. Her latest single “What You Need” debuted at No. 93 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, pushing her total entries on the chart to seven — a feat no other African female artist has ever achieved.

This accomplishment places Tems in rare company, tying her with fellow Nigerian superstar Burna Boy and South African rock band Seether, both of whom also hold seven Hot 100 entries. But Tems’ trajectory suggests she’s on the verge of surpassing them.

Her rise has been nothing short of historic. In 2022, she shattered barriers by becoming the first African artist to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Wait For U”, her collaboration with Future and Drake. That moment wasn’t just a win for Tems — it was a cultural milestone, signaling the global embrace of African music.

Now, anticipation is building as J. Cole’s “Bunce Road Blues”, featuring Tems and Future, is expected to debut on the Hot 100 next week. If it lands, Tems will officially break the tie and stand alone as the African artist with the most Billboard Hot 100 entries.

Beyond the numbers, Tems’ success represents a shift in the global music landscape. She’s not just charting songs; she’s charting a path for African women in music, proving that their voices can dominate the world stage. Her blend of soulful vocals, raw emotion, and fearless creativity continues to resonate with audiences across continents.
