According to vanguard news, February 7,2026, Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Ilorin on Saturday to assess the aftermath of the tragic assault on Woro village in Kaiama Local Government Area, where suspected Boko Haram insurgents killed over 100 residents earlier in the week.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Senator Sadiq Umar, and other state officials welcomed the Vice President at the Tunde Idiagbon International Airport. Shettima is scheduled to meet with traditional rulers, including the Emir of Kaiama, the Woro village head, security chiefs, and local government stakeholders to discuss recovery and security measures.
President Bola Tinubu has already ordered the deployment of a full battalion to the troubled community to restore peace and prevent further attacks.
The assault on Woro left scores of people injured, with many receiving treatment in hospitals. At least 75 victims were buried in a mass funeral conducted under Islamic rites. Reports also indicate that several women and girls were abducted during the attack, though the exact number remains unconfirmed.
The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from both Nigerian leaders and international observers, who have called for urgent action to protect vulnerable communities in Kwara State and across the country.
